Privacy policy

• We use your email only to provide FollowThrough's features to you.
• We never sell your data, never use it for advertising, and never use it to train AI models.
• FollowThrough can read your Gmail and send the replies you approve. It can't delete, archive or label anything in your mailbox, and nothing is sent without you reviewing it first.
• You can disconnect Gmail at any time, and ask us to delete your data at any time.

Account information. Your name, email address and password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form), or your name and email address if you sign in with Google.

Business information. What you enter or approve in FollowThrough: your business name and type, timezone, projects, contacts, tasks, notes and settings.

Email from Gmail, if you connect it. With your permission, FollowThrough reads new messages in your Gmail inbox. Before anything is analysed, messages in Gmail's Promotions, Social, Updates and Forums categories, mailing lists, automated notifications and messages you sent yourself are filtered out. For those, we keep only Gmail's message ID and the reason it was skipped, so it isn't processed twice, never its content. For the messages that remain, we store the sender, subject, date, the text of the message, and the results of analysing it (a summary, the tasks and deadlines found with short quotes from the message, and a suggested reply).

Email you paste in. If you paste an email into FollowThrough, we store it and its analysis the same way.

Waitlist requests. If you request beta access, your email address, the type of business you chose, and where you heard about us (if the link you used said so).

Technical information. Basic logs needed to run and secure the service (such as request times, errors and IP addresses), and essential cookies that keep you signed in. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

• To provide FollowThrough: reading your business email, finding tasks, deadlines, approvals and follow-ups, matching them to your projects and contacts, suggesting replies, and showing it all in your dashboard.
• To send replies from your Gmail, only when you review them and click Send.
• To run, secure, troubleshoot and improve the service.
• To contact you about your account and the beta, for example your invite, or to tell you your Gmail is ready to connect.

We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't sell or rent it to anyone.

FollowThrough's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

In particular, for data from your Gmail account:

• We ask only for permission to read email and to send email. We use it only to provide and improve the features you use in FollowThrough, described above.
• We share it only with the service providers listed below, and only as needed to provide those features, or when required by law.
• We don't use it for advertising, and we don't sell it.
• We don't use it to develop, improve or train generalized AI or machine-learning models.
• People at FollowThrough don't read it, unless you ask us to (for example, to help with a support request), it's needed for security (such as investigating abuse), or the law requires it.

We use a small number of service providers to run FollowThrough. Each processes data only on our behalf and under their own security and privacy commitments:

• Anthropic, to analyse email with AI (the Claude models). Messages are sent to Anthropic only to produce the summary, tasks and suggested reply for you. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, this data isn't used to train their models.
• Supabase, which hosts our database and handles sign-in.
• Vercel, which hosts the website and app.
• Google, to connect to Gmail and, if you choose, to sign you in.
• Our email delivery provider, to send account emails such as sign-up confirmations and password resets.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users and the service. If FollowThrough is ever sold or merged, we'll tell you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

• Everything is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
• Your Gmail connection key is encrypted before it's stored, and can only be used by our server. It's never sent to your browser.
• Each business's data is kept separate by access rules in our database, so one account can never see another's information.
• Access to our systems is limited to the people who need it to run the service.

No service can promise perfect security, but we take protecting your information seriously.

• We keep your information while your account is open, so your tasks and history stay available to you.
• Disconnect Gmail any time in Settings. We revoke our access with Google and delete the stored connection; no new email is read after that. You can also remove FollowThrough's access from your Google Account's security settings.
• Delete your data. Email privacy@followthrough.cc and we'll delete your account and the information associated with it, except anything we must keep by law.
• Access, correct or export your data. Email privacy@followthrough.cc and we'll help.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, including the right to complain to a data protection authority. We'll honour these rights for every user, wherever they are.

FollowThrough is a tool for businesses and isn't meant for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we'll let you know in the app or by email before they take effect.
